Lecturer, Music Director & Percussionist
Dr. Suvasis Sarkar is a lecturer in the Department of Instrumental Music at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He is an accomplished Baul artist, music director, and percussionist based in Kolkata. Specializing in tabla, khanjira, and dubki (folk percussion instruments), he has 15 years of professional experience with a strong focus on folk music fusion. He has conducted research on traditional instruments of the Tamang and Dhimal tribes and has performed at several music festivals both in India and internationally. He has also represented India as an instrumental artist in Thailand and Malaysia.
Dive deep into the art of Tabla and master the rhythmic language of Indian classical music. This advanced course focuses on hand technique, clarity of bols, speed, and intricate Layakari. Students will develop strong control over Taals, compositions like Kayda, Rela, and Tukda, and the ability to perform both as a soloist and accompanist with confidence and precision.
